In place of a conventional fluorescent backlight, the UN46B7000 uses a series of LEDs. LED backlighting dramatically improves picture contrast, expanding the range of gray tones from absolute black to brilliant white. It also increases the number of available colors — you'll primarily notice deeper reds and greens. Images have tremendous punch and impact, and colors look more nuanced and natural. An LED backlight also doesn't require as much power. In fact, Samsung's 2009 LED HDTVs consume up to 40% less power than last year's conventional LCD sets.

Recently purchased this TV to replace an older model Samsung. I love the TOC & the picture quality is beautiful. I'm definitely a "technically challenged" person, but the main operations were very simple.

Pros:
Produces relatively deep black levels; accurate color; very good dejudder processing; sleek styling with 1.2-inch thick panel; extensive feature set with Yahoo widgets, network streaming, and a lot of built-in content; extremely energy-efficient.

Cons:
Expensive; less-uniform screen than other LCDs; poor off-angle viewing; backlight fluctuates with program brightness; dark areas tinged bluer; shiny screen can cause reflections in bright rooms; red frame isn't for everyone.

The bottom line:
Although its picture quality can't quite live up to the high price, the Samsung UNB7000 series is a technological and design tour de force.
